Megapixels are the number cameras and phones shout the loudest about, because it’s the easiest spec to compare and the easiest to make sound impressive. More must be better, right? Mostly, no. For the photos and video you’ll actually make, the megapixel count is one of the least important things about a camera — and chasing it can cost you money, storage, and speed for a benefit you’ll never see.
